Find the Treasure. Recruit your crew. Build your Legend.
Redeem your gift adventure and begin your pirate experience!
🎉 Congratulations! You’ve Been Gifted an Adventure

Someone clearly thinks you’re bold enough to handle something more intense than socks this year. You’ve been given an interactive, city-wide pirate escapade this holiday season you can play with friends, family, or solo, anytime, in almost any city.
Welcome to A Pirate Captain.
No schedules. No rules. Just questionable leadership and poor nautical judgment.
🧠The Race for Treasure Begins… Just Mind the Kraken.
You’re a pirate captain with a ship-sized ego, zero crew, and a hat so magnificent that Captain Neckbeard simply had to insult it. He’s already bragging his way toward the greatest treasure of the age, loudly claiming you’ll never catch up.
To prove him wrong, you’ll dash through the city recruiting questionable sailors, collecting dubiously useful supplies, and making choices that may or may not be wise.
Assemble the perfect crew and the treasure is yours. Assemble the wrong one and you will almost certainly have to explain how the kraken got involved. Again.
👇 Watch the trailer to get properly prepared for nautical nonsense.
How to Redeem & Play (3 Simple Steps!)
We strongly recommend completing these steps on your phone, with this page open in your mobile browser.
Step 1: Download the Story City App
You’ll need the Story City app to redeem and play your adventure.
⚠️ The app must be installed before moving to Step 2. The crew insists on this. Mostly because they cannot read maps.
Step 2: Redeem Your Gift
Once the app is installed, click the redemption link below.
What happens next:
- You’ll be redirected to the Story City app and coupon pop-up
- You’ll be prompted to create an account or sign in (email or social login)
- A redemption modal will appear once you’ve created your account
- Select your gifted adventure on the modal
- Apply the coupon and add it to your library
- See the video below for more info.
âś… Your voyage is now officially underway.
Step 3: Create Your Route
Now comes the fun part.
This adventure is location-based, which means you decide where the mission unfolds. Inside the app, you’ll be guided through placing the Pirate Captain story chapters at real-world locations that fit the narrative.
Setup takes about 15 minutes, and we recommend doing this at home before heading out into the field
🎥 Watch the short walkthrough below to see how route creation works:
You’ll be choosing locations that are:
- Easy to walk between
- Public and accessible
- Suitable for observation, loitering, and suspicious pauses
- Safe to play during the day or evening, depending on your city
Yes, you can have one person set the route for your entire crew.
Just mark it as a community route with a memorable name so your whole crew can access it via the Select Route button.
📍 Location Suggestions for This Adventure
Best played in:
Downtown areas, waterfronts where available (ocean, river, lake, or pond!), or entertainment districts
Included location types you’ll need are:
- Plazas, parks, libraries, restaurants/bars
- Interesting buildings with character
- Public art, sculptures, or anything vaguely nautical
- Quirky storefronts or places where resupply feels plausible
If a location does not quite work, the app will guide you to alternative location types that will still keep the story afloat.
🧠Want to Recruit Extra Crew?
This gift covers one player, but every respectable pirate captain needs a crew.
You’re welcome to invite friends, family, or trusted operatives to join you. Each additional agent will need their own ticket, and they can join anytime, even last-minute, at 50% off the regular ticket price.
See You Out There, Adventurer!

Sharpen your wit. Secure your hat. Try not to anger anything with tentacles.
If you run into any issues with setup, redemption, or route creation, reach out to the dockmaster at:

Fair winds. Questionable decisions. Excellent stories.
How to Play!
Step into Pirate Captain, a walkable, choice-based treasure chase where every stop forces you to pick between different leads, crewmates, and supplies.
Follow GPS-triggered clues, solve coded puzzles, gather intel, and you may just beat Neckbeard to glory. Gather the wrong combination of clues and you may hear the distant roar of something large, tentacled, and deeply unimpressed.
Story City Adventures can be played anywhere alone or with friends.
To play, you’ll need a mobile phone, to download the app and take a walk at your own pace.
