Below are templates for several story types you will find on the Story City App. Not only will they give you some great examples already present on the app for each category, but they’ll provide suggestions, tips, and tricks to change things up and make them your own! Branching Narrative Template
The great thing about a branching narrative or choose your adventure is the reader takes on the role of a character within the story, and the choices they make not only affect the story but how they move through the city. Plus, it allows people to play multiple times to see what would happen if they chose differently. In fact, close to 30% of adventures will go back and try a story again.

Fictional Linear Story Template
You might have content either in a book, fictional podcast, or play that works really well as an action-packed storyline people are excited to follow (or to be able to literally immerse themselves in the role of a favourite character). Maybe you want to test the fictional waters, so to speak, before trying your hand at a more interactive style of story. If so, this is your template!

Puzzle Trail Template
While scavenger hunts can be pretty mindless, there is a thrill to being able to solve an escape room style puzzle before anyone else. To test your powers of deduction against others, a race against time. Perhaps you already create puzzle rooms or games for a living, and you want to try your hand at a version people can live in cities across the world. Or you really want people to pay attention to the world around them. Whatever your reason, this is your template!

History or Nature Walk Template
So, you have a non-fiction book or walking tour that would make a great digital self-guided walk – maybe for extra exposure, maybe because people have been complaining you don’t have enough walk times, maybe because you want an additional revenue stream from a tech savvy generation who uses their phones for everything? Or maybe you want a creative way to teach kids and families history and facts without crossing their eyes in boredom. Well, you’ve come to the right template!

Scavenger Hunt Template
This is a great template to organise community events or team-building exercises with opportunities to connect with businesses and local organisations to engage with the community, inform about the area, and boost small businesses. These are also brilliant for non-profit fundraisers and can even be combined with things like fundraising car rallies, marathons, or walks.

Fitness Experience Template
Many people on their fitness journey are in that no-mans land where they want that personal/interactive experience, but don’t have the time/funds to attend a certain class every week. This template allows for you to reach people who WANT to be more physically fit, but maybe have an irregular schedule, are just getting started so are shy in groups, or they’ll looking to make exercise a bit more FUN (think a Zombie’s Run experience but made by YOU!). Or potentially they are prepping for an event like a Spartan Race or Tough Mudder. Whatever the reason, this digital story can exist 24/7, draw a community together, be an alternate source of revenue and social media content, and build interest in your services and other classes!
