This project is funded by the City of Atlanta Department of Parks and Recreation… The City of Atlanta maintains over 6,900  acres of parkland and operates 37 recreational centers. DPR  works to provide equitable access to outstanding recreational, natural, and cultural experiences that enhance the happiness, health and well-being of all Atlantans.

“DPR continues to reimagine how neighbors can interact with parks and history,” says Justin Cutler, Commissioner of Atlanta Parks and Recreation. “By including culturally booming narratives through storytelling and visual art, Atlantans of all ages can learn, connect, and engage with digital explorations in our public greenspaces all summer-long!”

In this activation project the aim is to to educate the public on the nomenclature of the historical figures/ stories of the city parks and build out an interconnected network of stories that draw people to and from different parks within the city, decreasing the overcrowding of popular parks and the neighborhood fatigue of less utilized parks. These stories will transform locals and tourists alike into adventurers, drive community interaction with public spaces, connect, and draw upon the rich history of the area to help build up the cultural identity and future visions of the City of Atlanta.
