St John’s Cathedral Info-Popup Historic Note: St John’s Church

The oldest church site in Australia in continuous use, St John’s Cathedral has been in existence since 1794. In its beginning stages, it was merely a temporary church made of the material of two huts. It wasn’t until 1852 that the old structure was torn down and a new sandstone building was constructed in its place, leaving only the two towers that still stand today.
