Parramatta Town Hall Info-Popup Historic Notes: Parramatta Town Hall

Parramatta Town Hall is the oldest town hall site in Australia. Prior to the construction of the Town Hall the site was used as a Market Place from 1812 to 1878. All the produce of the district, and animals were sold and penned over the three acres of ground. Construction for the Town Hall was initiated over two periods, from 1879 to 1883. There was an interval between these periods where construction stopped.
