(17 September 1857 – 19 September 1935) was a Russian rocket scientist and pioneer of astronautic theory. Although he never built a rocket himself, Konstantin is considered to be one of the three founding fathers of rocketry and astronautics. His early theoretical work on jet propulsion, together with his solutions to the many practical problems associated with launching and directing rockets form the basis of modern rocketry.  Konstantin believed that humankind would eventually colonise the Milky Way Galaxy.
