The Panicum maximum or Guinea Grass is a very common weed in parks. While usually around 2m tall, it can grow up to 3m. Its native to Africa, and adapts well to SE Queensland, where it seeds profusely and can live for a long time (perennial). The leaves are fine, almost soft, and shade-tolerant.
